Tips for Feline Fun
“Tips for feline fun” seminars are unique to Prahran Veterinary Hospital and are a fantastic and interactive session for kitten and cat owners.
The objective is to discuss how and why cats behave the way they do and how to use that knowledge to avoid problem behaviours and to increase their fun and fulfilment in life. During the seminars, we give a presentation to illustrate normal behaviour in cats and how to interpret their body language and communication tools.

We look at some of the common causes of problem feline behaviour and offer strategies for prevention of these behaviours. We also talk about our social responsibility as cat owners and local council regulations.
Then we demonstrate basic training techniques such as “Come”, “Sit”, “High Five”, and “High Ten” (Yes, cats CAN be trained). Included here is a simple demonstration of handling techniques and medication administration (how to administer pills, ear ointments, eye medications).
Finally, we discuss the benefits of environmental enrichment and games that can be played with your feline friends that help them to nurture their normal instincts such as hunting and grooming.
The seminars are presented by Dr Nicole Hoskin and with the aid of a veterinary nurse. Dr Hoskin is fascinated by and knowledgeable about feline health and behaviour and is will discuss individual problems that participants may be having. It is very interactive |
